he Tridentine Mass has been celebrated every Sunday at St. Francis of Assisi Church since July 7, 1996. The St. Anthony of Padua Chapter, International Ecclesia Dei Association has been centered on that Mass, since there is a meeting room available after that Mass every week downstairs. Many of the people who go to the 1:15 Mass get together in the Parish Meeting Room for refreshments and socializing. The meeting room is down the stairs next to the sacristy. People are also invited to bring in snacks to share; soda can be brought and put it in the refrigerator downstairs before Mass. We haven’t had a formal meeting for a couple years because things are discussed informally there every week. The Tridentine Mass has been celebrated every Sunday at Our Lady of Consolation in Tacony in Northeast Philadelphia since January 5, 1992. There are 5 priests who have been rotating taking the Mass at Our Lady of Consolation on different Sundays. Father Burke takes the 1st Sunday, Father Sangermano the 2nd Sunday, Father Kehoe the 3rd, Father Carey the 4th, and Father Ciaudelli had been taking the 5th Sunday. At St. Francis of Assisi, Fathers Finn and Ettorre alternate Sundays. On February 21, Father Burke from the Indult Mass at Our Lady of Consolation came to visit our group at St. Francis of Assisi, and joined us for refreshments downstairs afterwards. The Indult Mass originally began in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on December 3, 1989 (nearly 10 years ago!) at St. John’s in downtown Philadelphia. It moved from there to Tacony in 1992. In 1994 a second Mass was added at St. Louis in Yeadon, Delaware County, only one Sunday a month, but it didn’t last long. Father Kehoe used to say the Mass there almost every month. There have been requests for a third Mass, as some people in the Archdiocese must travel great distances to attend either the Mass in Philadelphia or the Mass in Norristown. We have been told that there are plans for a Mass at an additional church to be added sometime this Spring. At the moment, that’s all that’s known. |

Events NewsDr. Thomas Droleskey is going to be speaking here on March 21, on the topic: "Religion of the New World Order." Dr. Droleskey's name has been in the news quite a bit lately because of his work against Ted Turner after his derogatory remarks about the Holy Father while promoting Population Control. There were 2 major Events over this past year. Last Spring, a trip was organized to the FSSP in the Scranton area. There was a High Mass, and presentations from Dr. Hicks and Father Devillers. The other Event was a little Christmas Party after the Mass in Norristown on December 27. |
The Prayer to St. Michael after the Mass There are many English translations for the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. If everyone at the Mass in Norristown uses the translation which is found in the red Mass booklets (as the priest does), then the congregation will all be reciting the prayer the same way: "...thrust down to hell Satan and all the evil spirits who roam through the world seeking the ruin of souls." |
