We have been informed that we are losing the Mass at St. Louis after May. The Mass has not been well-attended -- no doubt largely because of sudden, unexpected cancellations, and also because of the irregularity of a once-a-month Mass. Those of us who attended that Mass will miss it very much; it will be a sad event to see it go.
Another Mass has been promised, though. It is planned to start around May. Conshohocken has been mentioned as a possible location.
We have still been unable to meet with Cardinal Bevilacqua in person; everything must be done through the Office for Worship. That Office has not been enthusiastic in support of the traditional Mass.
We have been informed that the Mass must begin on a trial basis, once a month (if this is a requirement, we wonder, why wasn’t this the case when the Mass first started at St. John’s). Being once a month will make it almost impossible to have any successful attendance.
We have also been informed that we may not have the Mass during the normal hours for a Mass. We cannot have it before 1:00 P.M. at the absolute earliest. This is said to be because of interference with the regular Mass schedules and Baptisms. Ethnic parishes have many hours available in the morning. But we have been told that it cannot be in any ethnic parish because of plans to close the ethnic parishes.
What’s our next step? We must continue to pray, and to insist that the archdiocese respect our rightful aspiration, and allow us to worship at a traditional Mass regularly, at a reasonable time, in a location not too far away. Until that happens, they will never be rid of us. Perseverance and persistence pays. Remember what happened in the story of the widow and the judge in chapter 18 of the Gospel of St. Luke!
Accordingly schismatics properly so called are those who willfully and intentionally separate themselves from the unity of the Church; for this is the chief unity, and the particular unity of several individuals among themselves is subordinate to the unity of the Church, even as the mutual adaptation of each member of a natural body is subordinate to the unity of the whole body. Now the unity of the Church consists in two things; namely, in the mutual connection or communion of the members of the Church, and again in the subordination of all the members of the Church to the one head, according to Col. 2:18,19: ‘Puffed up by the sense of his flesh, and not holding the Head, from which the whole body, by joints and bands, being supplied with nourishment and compacted, growth unto the increase of God.’ Now this Head is Christ Himself, Whose viceregent in the Church is the Sovereign Pontiff. Wherefore schismatics are those who refuse to submit to the Sovereign Pontiff, and to hold communion with those members of the Church who acknowledge his supremacy.

For the little children, a Santa Claus was there, who read stories to the children and made balloon animals for them.
Bill & Eleanor Seegers of Folkways in Malvern came to run the main event of the day: an International Folk Dance.
The dances that afternoon included the German couple dance At the Inn to the Crown, the Greek-American circle dance Miserlou, Eastern European circle dances Milanovo and Serbian Girl, and even American dances, like the line dance Fischer’s Hornpipe.
Everyone had a good time learning and doing the dances, and we hope to have another folk dance sometime.
