INDULT MASS NEWS

T he Tridentine Mass has been celebrated every Sunday at St. Francis of Assisi Church since July 7, 1996. The St. Anthony of Padua Chapter, International Ecclesia Dei Association has been centered on that Mass, since there is a meeting room available after that Mass every week downstairs.

Many of the people who go to the 1:15 Mass get together in the Parish Meeting Room for refreshments and socializing, followed by singing practice. The meeting room is down the stairs next to the sacristy. People are also invited to bring in snacks (cookies, cakes, donuts, whatever) to share. Soda can be brought and put it in the refrigerator downstairs before Mass. It's also a good idea to come down after the Mass because sometimes announcements and decisions made even when it's not a formal meeting.

Gregorian Chant

There are now 3 Masses in the choir’s repertoire: Mass VIII (Missa de Angelis), Mass XVII (for Sundays of Advent & Lent), and Mass XI (Orbis factor). Mass VIII can be found in the red Mass books available at each Mass. The other two are on papers which can be found with the Mass booklets. There is a short practice before each Mass, and on most Sundays a main practice downstairs after refreshments (usually from 2:30-3:00).

Bruno Borde, who has been leading the choir, and his wife Marie-Camille have returned to France permanently. We had a pot-luck dinner in their honor downstairs after the Mass on March 8, which included meatball sandwiches and carrot cake. The chants will continue, even though we no longer have Bruno to lead the singing. We will all miss the Borde’s.

Events News

Dr. Thomas Droleskey is going to be speaking here on March 22, on the topic: Lifting High the Cross in Lent.

There were 2 events over last winter: the dinner described on the previous page, and the Christmas Party.

The Prayer to St. Michael after the Mass

There are many English translations for the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. If everyone uses the translation which is found in the red Mass booklets (as the priest does), then the congregation will all be reciting the prayer the same way: ...thrust down to hell Satan and all the evil spirits who roam through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
