Problems with Evolution

These are some of my own thoughts on Evolution, and why I am a Creationist.

First of all, I would maintain that Evolution, true or false, is not scientific. It's not scientific because, by its very nature, it cannot be tested scientifically, because both observation and experimentation are impossible. Even if a case of true evolution could be duplicated in the laboratory, it would not prove that it was the source of all the variations in kinds of creatures in the world, there would still be no way of knowing whether or not that was actually what happened! So evolution more properly belongs to the field of philosophy than science.

Another problem is that the entire theory of evolution is based on an unproven assumption: the Principle of Uniformity (that all natural phenomena are constant and unvarying). This principle is rejected by Creationists -- which is quite legitimate since there is no proof for it anyway. All geological evidence for evolution depends on the Principle of Uniformity; without that, all that evidence is invalid.

Dating methods also rely on the Principle of Uniformity to be accepted, when they cannot be verified. Dating can be verified up to 8,000 years, the age of bristlecone pines in the West. Beyond that, there is no way of checking their accuracy. Without the Principle of Uniformity, dating beyond that can never be done with any certainty at all. Even with the Principle of Uniformity, inaccuracies in dating methods won't be caught.

Thus, the only reliable source of information about the formation of the world that is available, and will ever be available, is the Book of Genesis in the Bible. That is why I am a Creationist.
