The Magical Map

by Allisonn O'Neill

Haley was reading a book on her little island in the Atlantic Ocean. Haley loves to read. She thinks that books can take her anywhere! Her island has a ton of adventures on it. Such as a broken down plane, hiking in her palm tree forest, and a lot more. Haley is twelve years old and is 5'4" tall. She has blond hair, hazel eyes, and pale white skin.

It was Haley's birthday that day. She got a handheld telescope and a Nancy Drew book from her mom. Haley wanted to use her telescope so bad that she went into the woods and started exploring. She went into the part of the palm tree woods that she never went before. She saw a glow under these branches. She moved all the branches and saw an old plane with a map inside of it. Not knowing what to do she picked up the map and ran to her house.

Haley showed the map to her mom the next day at school and asked her, "what is this thing, mom". She said, "it's probably just an old stone". Haley went to the beach after school and asked her dad what is this and he said the same thing her mom said. She than went back to her house and decided to read her Nancy Drew book.

Haley was reading her book and it was about Rome and how beautiful it was. Haley said "I really wish I could go to Rome" and all of a sudden she looks down at her book again and looks up and finds herself in Rome! She was amazed but she couldn't find out how she had gotten there. Then she realized that the map was magical!

Haley went on tons of adventures after Rome she went to Mexico, Chile, Oregon, new York, and even Greenland. Greenland was Haleys least Favorite trip.

What happened was Haley was reading a book about Greenland. It said it was a warm beautiful place with rivers, lakes, and grass. She wanted to go there so bad . So she told the map to take her to Greenland. 10 seconds later she was in Greenland. "Its snowing!"

She said "It must be winter."

It was getting darker and colder. She looked at her stone map. It was frozen. "This is nothing like the book said it would be, but it did say Greenland had a mild winter.'' this isn't mild . Haley thought in her mind. She warmed up the map in her coat. The map finally warmed up and Haley got home

When Haley was home she went into her room, put the map on the desk, and went to find her parents. When she told her parents about her trip they didn't believe her. All they said was, "That map is not magical, there is no such thing as a magical map". Haley went back to her room. She sat on her bed and stared at the map.

"What am I going to do to make my parents believe me", she thought. Then all of a sudden she thought of an idea. She would show them.

The next day Haley got her map and went to see her dad.

She asked, "What is the place you have always wanted to go?"

He said, "Hawaii."

So she told her dad to say, "I want to go to Hawaii."

He said the words and then they ended up in Hawaii. Haley's dad was so excited to be in Hawaii. Of course since Haley's parents are scuba divers the first thing her dad wanted to do was to go scuba diving. So they got some wet suites and went scuba diving. A couple of hours later Haley said to her dad that mom will start worrying about them so they should go home. So they told the map to take them home.

When Haley go home she went straight to her mom and asked her the same thing, "Where is the place you have always wanted to go?"

Her mom said, "New York, I have always wanted to see the Eiffel Tower."

So Haley told the map to take them to New York. When they got to New York they went to the top of the Eiffel tower. Four hours later they were shopping and having a great time in New York. Then Haley finally said that dad would be worrying about them so they should go home. She than told the map to take them home.

Haley`s parents were so excited about the map. Every night at dinner they were talking about were they were going to tomorrow. Haley actually started to get annoyed, but as long as Haley`s parents were happy she was happy. This is the way it was for many many years.
