It's a book full of magic but, there's nothing on its pages. This certain book has a title: The Mondo Book of Monsters. It's blood red and there is a scratch along its cover. If you look closely then you could see a symbol. The symbol is a swirl with a claw in the middle. The symbol is made of gold. If you would open the book when a monster was in front of you the book would glow and sllloooorp! the monster would be gone. If you opened the book, than you would see the monster.
The time is 1785. It's in a jungle in America. It's very dark, and damp. Its called the Mystic Jungle. Odd things happen there. People dissapear.
Zack
His name is Zack, he is 13 years old and he lives in a small town called Destown. Destown does not get new books very often. He has short black hair and green eyes. He has read a couple of books, none of which he found interesting. His dad is at work alot, and his mother does not have time for him. His interests are fishing, picking berries, earning money and shopping for new books. He's nice, but he does not know how to make friends.
Josh
He has red eyes and brown hair. His skin is really tanned from all the cracks in his house's roof. He's 4 foot 6 and 11 years old. The two are each others only friends. The two have been together since they were babies. He and his parents live in a run-down house. His parents have money problems. He likes adventure books. He has a bow and some arrows and he likes to hunt with them. He is also mischievious and likes to play pranks.
He is at the coast about a days walk from Destown. But for some reason Josh wasn't there. Suddenly the coast disapears. He's on a road. There's a house in the distance. For some reason he appears with a crowbar in his hand. He starts walking towards it, slowly, cautiously. He finally reaches the house. There is a beautiful pegasus statue in front of the house. It has blue eyes that are polished sapphires. He opens the door with a squeak and goes inside. He comes to a door that is locked in chains, bolted shut, has boards across it and has an explosive that will go off when touched. He carefully opens the door. He sees a book floating in the middle of the room.
Now what he had heard from the great adventurers, he knew that a book floating in the middle of the room was dangerous. But against his better judgement, he goes in anyway. All of a sudden, rocks start falling from the ceiling. "Uh-oh. this isn't good," Zack says. He dives out of the way, rolls and looks up. Wait a minute. The ceiling is made of wood. Zack looks at the book. Its glowing. "Oh bad!" Zack leaps at the book. Suddenly, a hand flys out of nowhere. It's made of rocks. He smashes into it. His nose is bleeding.
He looks up. "That wasn't there before," Zack said. That wasn't there before indeed. There was a rock golem rising up from the floor. He feels weight in his hand. There is an explosive he is dreaming of creating in his hand. He throws it with all his might. 5,4,3,2,1. Boooooooooooom!!!!!!!!! The golum explodes in pieces of rock fragments!
Suddenly Zack's in bed. He looks around. Josh is in bed, sleeping peacefully. All of a sudden Zack remembers what happened. Josh was able to have the sleepover his parents said he could have.
Zack then goes back to sleep.
