The Friendly Cenzie

by Jessica

G.G. is a kind of a stuffy bird, she will fuss over her self for hours cleaning and ruffling up her feathers. G.G. is a small bird but very pretty, her silky green feathers shine in the sun. Her feathers are only four feet two inches long. She has never been close to anyone except but the girl who feeds and takes care of her. When she was little she was caught and brought to the zoo she was so shook up that she never trusted humans again. Even though G.G. dose not trust humans she threats them kindly.

The twenty first of December was a typical day at the zoo, the monkeys were hooting as loud as usual and the ducks were the only animals splashing around in the rain. Who would guess that anything would go wrong? G.G.'s Caretaker, Lauren went to the food sand a cross from her cage to have lunch, just like she always did. After Lauren's lunch she did not go over to the medical center like G.G. expected but went to the head of the bird section and chatted with her for a few minuets then both Lauren and Jessica came over to G.G.'s habitat. Lauren and Jessie stood there leaning on the fence chatting. G.G. would not have understood a word if they didn't "talk" with there hands and mouths. Then Jess left and Lauren was a lone with G.G. She got down on her knees and started petting her and softly talked to her. "Hi sweetie. Jessie is going to take care of you. Jessica is nice you'll like her." G.G. did not understand any of this. Then Lauren wrapped her arms around her and whispered," Bye."

Next she got up and brushed some mud off of her pants. Reaching in to her jacket pocket she fished out a note pad and after unsuccessful searching for a pen Lauren barrowed one from Mike and wrote:

JESSICA-
I FOR GOT TO TELL YOU TO FEED
G.G. A CUP OF FREASH FRUIT AT
NIGHT. THANKS.
-LAUREN

After fastening the note to the gate, Lauren strode off to her car and rode away.

Morning came and Lauren did not come. Instead, Jes did, cheerful and upbeat her mood was like the weather. Stopping at G.G.’s gate she scanned the note, and walked away. Then quickly returned with a bag of food riding on her shoulder. After ripping the bag open she poured half in a bowl and walked off. The day dragged on for G.G. and at night she could not sleep. The next day there was no Lauren so G.G. decided she was going to fly away. She waited until Lauren took her off of the stake and a single swish of her wings sent her to the ground and G.G. to the sky. She landed in a park by a lake. She had been there before at an assembly. G.G. waded into the water and relaxed. Meanwhile, at the zoo Jessie was in a panic. She called up Lauren and told her everything. Lauren was at the zoo in a flash. Soon Jes and Lauren were visiting every creek, river, pond, and lake in the area. (You can tell G.G. likes water.) Soon they were at Lake Merrit. (Where G.G. is.) G.G. spied the truck and ran up and sat in the middle of Lauren and Jessica and they soon were on there way home.

Lauren still wanted to go on her trip so, Jessica, G.G., and Lauren went on a canoe trip together. With all those water dogs in the canoe it's no wonder why the boat didn't stay up right very long!

A year later G.G. was let go, but is seen often by everybody.
