Atlanta's Journey

by Hannah

Coat of arms Assateague is a beautiful island in Maryland USA at the mouth of the beautiful Delaware Bay in the cold Atlantic Ocean. Assateague is laid wide open to the ferocious sea and on the shores of Assateague there are glistening crystal caves. There are many different types of desidious trees and only a few open fields filled aromatic wild flowers. The food source is abundant especially the main foods such as Purple Sour Grass and Silver Brussel Sprouts.

There aren't any people on Assateague, however, there are a few remains of humans homes and ships skeletons. The inhabitants of Assateague are Dogonies & Swaddledongs and they live in perfect harmony with one another. They are all hard workers and have each a specific job. The very friendly Swaddledongs care for the Dogonies immediatley after birth while the Dogonies work havesting the Sour Grass which is crushed under their sturdy, energetic hooves and carried in weaved seaweed bags which are made by the industrious Swaddledongs.

The Dogonies have unusual scaley soft like skin which glows at night similar to a fire fly. They have a ponies mane ,head and legs and a dogs body and tail. The Dogonies make very strange and interesting noises like "unununrrrrrufffff" The Dogonies have very beautiful sparkling and dazzling eyes.

Atlanta is the Princess of the Dogonies she is very confident and set apart from the rest. Her colours are the essence of the night sky; a soft blend iof Lavendar,Violet and Shadowy Blues. Her mane is the purest of silver and her hooves are the colour of the light blue midday sky. Atlanta's eyes are the goldest of golds. She has a star the colour of a bright orange harvest moon on her right shoulder.

Ariana, Atlanta's best friend, also a Swaddledong is the colour Royal Blue. Ari's task is to groom Atlanta and look after her needs.

Trojen is the largest Dogonie on Assateague other then the King. He is Atlanta's brave strong tall and handsome bodygaurd. Trojen is black as the night and when he gallops you may catch a glimpse of periwinkle. His eyes are the colour of the ocean. Carved in his right front hoof is the Royal families Coat of arms.

Atlanta, Arianna and Trojen love to play together and have lots of splash fights on the beach. One ordinary day Ari and Ātlanta were playing catch the wave when a noise startled them. No sooner had they started to run for cover when they were swept away by a huge wave.

Atlanta, Arianna and Trojen love to play together and have lots of splash fights on the beach. One ordinary day Ari and Atlanta were playing catch the wave when a noise startled them. No sooner had they started to run for cover when they were swept away by a huge, black, rogue wave! The pair were pulled under the great surf. Try as they might they could not pull themselves up to the top. Down they were pulled under the massive wall of water. Cries for help rang out as water filled their lungs. Choking and sputtering sliping to unconscienceness!

Atlanta woke up to see Arianna staring at her with a pale and frightened look! Atlanta began to spew out salty water as she tried to comfort her friend. Atlanta slowly moved around to try see where they were. The strange place was not known to them. The two weak foreigners pulled there way into the cotton bushes and plopped down and closed their eyes.

Meanwhile as the two lost weary souls slept on the island of Assateague. it was quite the different story no body slept as Trojen mustered up all the able bodied to go on a search for the Princess and her companion.

With Trojen in the lead and a battalion of 50 Dagonies and 25 Swaddledongs boarded rafts of all shapes and sizes and headed out into the dangerous and unknown seas with high hopes of saving the missing pair. About five hours into their trip the seas began to clash as a hideous 20ft snake-like sea monster rose above the surf and screamed an unbearable shriek and out of its fangs came poisonous venom that rained all over the terrified troops. Trojen was quick to raise his Royal Dagger and put the disgusting creature to its eternal sleep.

Immediatley all hands began to fall ill including Trojen and the decision was made by their leader for all to return home. Trojen new he was nothing without Atlanta and was always ready to give his life for her.

Even though he was deathly ill, Trojen set off, alone, for what he knew would be a perilous journey. He set his sails and the evening winds blew him further away from his homeland. In great pain from the poison singed welts covering his body Trojen vowed to stay alive to save the lost princess and her companion. Trojen knew the first night at sea would be long.

At the first break of dawn Trojen forced himself to eat the sourgrass his friends left him. The seas were calm, too calm. Something was wrong he reared with fright to see the swollen seas and foreboding black clouds in the distance. Trojen immediately harnessed himself to the raft and with the big crash the frightening seas were upon him. Twisting and turning, Trojen was swallowed up by the great wall of ocean liquid!

Meanwhile Atlanta and Ari also noticed the strange calm and noticed the same black clouds coming toward them. Hurriedly they made preparations for an obvious huge tropical storm, which was coming toward them at an unbelievable speed. They ran for cover deep into the jungle while the storm was still coming towards them. They saw a cave made by some rocks, which had fell together in what looked like an earthquake, almost like a volcano!

When Ari and Atlanta awoke the storm was long since gone but left a sight for sore eyes. When they went back to the beach to what they called camp. There was nothing left of what little they had. Just then Ari noticed a large rock like figure on the beach not far from where they were standing. As they walked toward the figure they seen some movement, which startled them and they ran into the bushes to hide but keeping one eye on the mysterious object. They gathered up there courage and approached the figure together. When they got close enough to see his face they realized that it was Trojen!!! Ari felt for a pulse and only felt a small one but there was still hope for Trojen.

Atlanta bent over and whispered in Trojen's ear that she would do what ever she could to bring him back to complete health. The anxious pair searched franticly for anything that would aid in their desparate attempt to save the noble knight.

Ari remembered seeing some wild sugar cane and some strange bean like things on the oher side of the tiny island so she ran at top speed to gather what may just nurse Trojen and bring back his strength.

Meanwhile Atlanta was mixing up coconut milk and fresh water from the spring to rehydrate Trojen and some oil from the wild olives to use as an ointment for his bruised and gashed body. Arianna fed Trojen the natural tonic and Trojen responded with a weak whinny and sprang up with a great force and they all cheered with great whoops of joy and laughter!

The threesome spoke of each ones adventures that almost took their lives as they rested and made plans for their journey to the place they all loved best, Assateague, home.

At the crack of dawn Trojen put his master skills to work and built a raft from what the island had to offer and the pieces he gathered from his previous craft, while the other two gather natures supplies to see them through another unknown journey.

Almost a week later Atlanta, Arianna and Trojen were ready to cast off and head home. They loaded the supplies and looked bravely at each other and set off.

The trek home was not at all what they expected the weather was fair the winds light, the skys were blue with the odd rain cloud which was welcome as they passed under and were momentarily sheltered from the blazing hot sun and even the odd shower treated them.

With the winds blowing in the opposite way of the terrible storm they had encountered they knew for sure they were well on there way home.

Assateague was now on the horizon 3 days along. The three rested companions made a unanimous desicion to swim the rest of the way next to the raft full of treasures from the unknown island.

There were great crowds gathering on the beach of Assateague and Atlanta's heart lept for joy as her mother's face was clear in sight. With loud trumpet sounds Trojen announced the princess's arrival to her home land. Atlanta knew these were the best friends anyone could ever have!

They arrived home safely and how much the trio loved their beautiful Island of Assateague!
