Lost in the Desert

by Tyler

There once was a guy named John and he lived in 1000 B.C. with his wife Mary and their son David. They liked fishing. David would fish with his pals all of the time. They were very nice people. They worked hard on weekdays and played on weekends. John's job was making boats. It was a family business. It included every one in the family. Even their uncle named Al and Aunt Dana and David's cousin Adam. They lived by the Nile River and they lived in a nice town. It had flowers everywhere and there were a lot of trees too. John could try out his new boats that he made in the river. There was lots of shade on hot days from the big trees around the Nile River.

Part 2

One day when John was working he got a message that he was invited to his brother's house. John had not seen his brother in seven years. John told his family about the news and told them he needed to go home and pack. He packed his favorite necklace and ring and the necklace and ring were made of gold. When he got everything packed he left.

John had two horses and one chariot. John was out of town now. His horses jumped because they saw a snake. The chariot was going fast. John tried but he could not make them stop. He was far off the road now. He looked back but he could not see the road. All of a sudden everything was black. He woke up and saw he had fallen out of the chariot. He knew that if he did not find water soon he would die!

The next day John got up early and started to walk. He had not walked very far when he saw an oasis and he drank the water. John knew it would be hard to get out of the desert, so he grabbed some fruit from the trees that grew around the oasis and left. He walked all day. John was tired so he went to sleep.

When John got up, he ate some fruit and started to walk. John had not walked very far when he saw two men. The two men were looking at John and one of them said, "Where do you come from?" John said he came from Thebes. One of the men said, "Give me that gold." John said, "No!" Then John knew that the horses the men were riding were his. But he had no time to tell them because they were chasing him. John ran as fast as he could. Then he saw the oasis. He was trapped at the oasis.

Part 3

John remembered the fruit he had picked so he got out the fruit and threw it at the two men and knocked them out. John got his horses and rode off.

Part 4

John had been riding for a long time. He was extremely hungry. When he saw his wagon he was so happy. He ran very fast to the wagon. There was a lot of food still in there! John ate, packed as much food as he could, and rode all day.

The next day he ate some fruit and started to ride off when he heard a loud noise. He ran to it as fast as he could and there was Al Badari! He looked everywhere. He started to ask people if they knew his brother and if they knew where he lived. He finally found a man who knew his brother. The man said his brother's house was right by the church. John followed the man to the house. He saw his brother! He was right outside of the house. He told his brother about what happened in the desert. Then John told his brother that it was worth it all just to see his brother for the first time in seven years.
