Quinton is a toadise. A toadise is an animal that is a toad and tortoise put together. He has a green body and a brown shell. Quinton loves to jump around in the water. Quinton was from the rainforest and got captured by hunters.
Quinton got shipped to Pennsylvania where Jordan bought him. Jordan is the owner of Quinton. He and Quinton are happy to be together! Jordan lives in Pennsylvania, US. He is ten years old and lives with his Mom, Dad and little sister, Veronica. Jordans house is beside a brook and he takes Quinton down there sometimes.
It was the middle of June. It was 3:30pm on a hot summer day and everyone was trying to keep cool. Jordan just came home from school."Jordan, we have a surprise for you" Jordan's mom called up the stairs. "OK. I'll be right down" Jordan said putting Quinton back in his cage. "I'll be right back" said Jordan heading out of the room. Jordan ran down the stairs and asked "What mom?". His parents and little sister, Veronica, were all sitting on the couch. "Sit down on the couch Jordan" his parents said standing up. Jordan thought that something happened. "We have some news to tell you both" his dad said after Jordan sat on the couch. "We decided that when school is over and we start summer break that our family will go to Orlando, Florida for 3 weeks" Jordan's mom said. Jordan jumped up and said "We're going to Florida!" putting his hand in the air. Their family talked about it and then said that they would leave the second week of summer. Jordan couldn't wait! He was so excited that he had to tell Quinton and ask his friend to come over that night.
Jordan ran up to his room and said "Quinton, we're going to Florida! You can be in the water all the time. This is amazing!". He said it so fast and that seconds later he said "I need to call my number 1 bestest friend Thomas and tell him to come over tonight". Minutes later, Jordan was on the phone saying "So you're coming over now? Great! OK. Bye". Thomas came right over and they talked about it til Thomas said "my mom is going to call for me to go for supper any minute. I really have to go. Congratulations and bye" leaving the room. Jordan lay on his bed smiling until his mom called him for supper.
After supper, Jordan watched tv, then went up the wooden hill(stairs) to bed. He dreamt that night that something happened to Quinton over in Florida and that he never saw him ever again. He woke up at 2:43am and said "It was just a stupid dream" and went back to sleep dreaming that him and Quinton had the best time in Florida.
Three weeks later the family and Quinton were at the airport, getting their luggage on the conveyor belt. "I'll see you in Florida Quinton. Don't get nervous. We will be at the beach in no time" Jordan said. Jordan's dad went and put a name tag on Quinton's cage and then put Quinton onto the conveyor belt. "See you soon buddy" Jordan said. Quinton was jumping up and down panicking but was OK.
Quinton was on the conveyor belt and his tag got stuck. It ripped off his cage and fell onto the ground. He didn't have a name on him. He got off the conveyor belt but went onto a different plane then Jordan. What plane did he get on and where is he going?
He landed on a beautiful land. Quinton didn't know where he was. He landed and jumped out of his cage. That was a bad idea. The workers ran after him and tried to catch him with a net but no luck. Quinton jumped over the gate and hopped away. The workers turned around and went back to their work. Quinton was very scared. He didn't know where he was at all. Where was his owner? Why was he here? And where is he going to go?
Meanwhile with Jordan and his family....
"We better go get our luggage" Jordan said heading for the conveyor belt. "Yeah! You're right, son" Jordans dad said walking behind him. Jordan got his bag and then was waiting for Quinton to come. But Quinton didn't come. Jordan waited and waited but still no sign. "Where's Quinton, dad?" Jordan asked walking over and looking into the machine. "He'll be here in a minute" His dad assured him. Ten minutes passed by.
"Where is he, dad? He's supposed to be here by now" Jordan panicked. "I'm going to talk with the airplane people. Maybe they'll know what is going on" Jordans dad said walking away. All of a sudden, the conveyor belt stopped. "Mom? What the..." Jordan started by being stopped by his mother saying "Its no ones fault. Quinton is fine. Just wait" his mom said in a hush tone. That was not what Jordan wanted to hear. They sat in the waiting area, waiting for Jordans dad to come back with news.
Back to Quinton....
Quinton Bounced down the streets not knowing where he was. All of a sudden, he saw a poster. It said 'HAWAII! Place of the beautiful beaches'. Hawaii, that was where Quinton was. So he knew where he was now but had no idea where he was going. Right then, he saw a kid. This kid had a skateboard and was just rolling down the walkway. Quinton decided to follow him.
Soon enough, Quinton had followed this kid to an old house that was almost falling in. Quinton hid in the corner watching him sit down on a chair. "I made 10 whole dollars today, Charlie" the kid said showing his money to a box. All you could see was a rabbit jump up in the air with excitement. Quinton didn't know what to do and it was getting pretty late. So he cuddled up under an old suck and fell a sleep.
He woke up at 1:34am and smelled food. He was so hungry that he got p and looked around. The kid was no where to be seen and so Quinton thought it would be safe. But doesn't he go and hit a can down from the counter and it landed on the floor making a loud 'CRASH'. The kid heard this and headed down the stairs with a bat. He had a plan. So he went down the stairs, jumped into the kitchen, turned on the light and said "Get out of my house!". Quinton jumped up in the air and sat back down. When the kid realized that is was an animal, he wasn't that scared. "What in the world are you?".
Over the next couple of days, Quinton followed this kid around. On the third day, he found out that the kids name was Sam and his rabbits name was Charlie. Sam lived alone and had no parents. He was a orphan. Quinton got renamed to Max because that's what Sam called him. Quinton spent 3 weeks with these people. Sam's pet rabbit, Charlie, didn't like Quinton at all. Then one day Charlie went up to Quinton and started a fight. It took them an hour before they quit it. Charlie didn't even have a scratch. But Quinton had blood all over. That's when Charlie figured out that he needed to help this animal because he needed to get home. So they became good friends.
Back to Jordan...
"HAWAII! We have to leave now!" Jordan yelled at his dad. It was 3 weeks later and Jordans dad just figured out where Quinton was. They were at home. "Pack your bags. Were leaving in half an hour" Jordans dad said. As you can see, their trip to Florida became a panic attack for Jordan. They were on their way to Hawaii and were about to find Quinton. They had know idea where Quinton was though. Their plane would arrive in Hawaii in 7 hours.
Quinton...
It was the time Jordan got into Hawaii. Sam was working so Quinton and Charlie were on their own. It was an amazing day! They had all day to be together and then they were planing out the next day. Jordan was roaming around the streets and looking for Quinton. All of a sudden, Jordan saw Quinton and Charlie with Sam going down the street. "I saw him!" Jordan said running down the street after them. He found out where they lived and they ran into the house. "Give me back my pet!" Jordan said madly. "Him, that's my pet" Sam said startled and pointing down to Quinton. "No his name is Quinton. He has been in my family since he was little" Jordan snapped back. They both wanted Quinton bad. Jordans dad didn't know what to do. What should they do?
"Why don't we go to the beach and sort this out" Jordans dad calmly explained. "Dad, why would we do that? We both already know that I own Quinton and he doesn't have a say in the matter" Jordan said madly. "But I want him too. And his name is Max" Sam exclaimed. 'What should we do? I want Quinton so bad! I've had him since he was little', Jordan thought.
It was getting late. Jordans family was all there. They were fighting back and forth. It was mostly Jordan and Sam who were fighting. All of a sudden, Sam looked around and asked nervously "Where's Charlie?". Then Jordan looked around and asked "Where's Quinton?". They looked around the room. No sign of both of them.
Quinton and Charlie.......
They both hopped down the street and went into a little store. They found out that it was a pet shop. The two of them went into a nice size cage. It ended up that they were in a hamster cage. The hamster was under some sods sleeping. So Quinton went into the hamsters little house and Charlie(who is pretty big) slept in the sods too.
Jordan....
They looked high and low but couldn't find him. It was dark and Veronica was tired and grumpy. "Son, we have to go to the hotel. Its time to call it a day" Jordans dad said. "NO! We have to keep looking. We can't leave Quinton alone" Jordan complained. "Don't worry Jordan. I'll look for them tonight and you go rest" Sam said wearily. Jordan mom then said "No. You better get going home too. Your mother is probably wondering where you are". Sam was a little teary eyed now. "No she isn't. My Dad died when I was three and then my mom died when I was eight. I lived on the streets most of my life". They were all in shock.
"Oh, I'm sorry. You may look if you want" Jordans dad said heading out the door. "Thanks. It means a lot to me" Jordan said giving Sam a smile and a high five. The family left. Sam started his search for these two animals.
All night long, Sam looked for Charlie and Quinton. Yelling their names didn't seem to work. Jordan and his family came back at around 8:30am to help look.
Quinton and Charlie...
Quinton woke up with a bunch of kids staring in the cage. He went over and woke up Charlie who said they should stay in the cage. So they sat there with a hamster looking at them as if they were total freaks. Quinton and Charlie just hoped that their owners would find them.
Jordan and Family...
"Aw... Mom look, a pet shop. Look in the window! In that cage there's a puppy, and in that cage there's a kitten, and in that cage there seems to be a rabbit, a hamster and a thing that looks like Quinton" Veronica said looking in the window of the pet shop. Quinton was in there and started bouncing up onto the glass. "Quinton" Jordan yelled running into the shop. He grabbed Quinton out of the cage and then the clerk asked "Your not supposed to touch the animals until this afternoon". "He's mine, I got him a long time ago when he was only little" Jordan said. "All right then. Go ahead and take him" the clerk said shaking his head. Jordan held Quinton and grabbed Charlie and headed out the door. His family and him were so happy. They went and found Sam, who was so happy to see his pet, and went back to their hotel room. Sam went with them. They were all so happy to have their pets back home. Then Jordans dad said "So what are you going to do, Sam?". "I don't really know, I'll probably just stick around the streets" Sam thought. "But isn't it kind of scary living on the streets. I wouldn't want to do it" Jordans mom said. "Well, I've met people that just started living on the streets. It's a lot less scary for me because I've been on the streets more then half my life" Sam said thinking about it. "I wish you could come with us. You're my friend! I have to admit. And I'm sorry for getting mad at you the other day" Jordan said. Just then, Jordans parents said "We have to talk. Alone. You guys stay here. Were going to go out for lunch. We'll bring you all back something". "Whatever. Sam can stay in the room with us, right dad?" Jordan said. "Of course" Jordans dad said giving Sam a smile. They left the room.
"What would it be like if you came home with us?" Jordan said. "It'll never happen probably. But if it did, we would be like brothers. Wouldn't that be so cool?" Sam said. They both laid down on the bed and thought out loud about it. "I wish you could be my brother. You'd probably be better the Jordan!" Veronica said. Jordan jumped up and threw a pillow at her. Then Veronica picked up the pillow and, trying to throw it at Jordan, threw it at Sam. "PILLOW FIGHT!" Jordan yelled running to grab some pillows. Quinton and Charlie ran under the bed to duck for cover. Sam threw a pillow at Jordan and it fell apart. Feathers flew everywhere. It looked like it was snowing. They all lay on the floor watching the feathers come down. They were all laughing so hard that they almost fell asleep.
It was 3pm. Jordans parents knocked on the door and came into the room. "We have something to tell you" Jordans dad said. "Oh, I better get going" Sam said feeling uncomfortable. "No, the news is for you too, Sam" Jordans mom said. Jordan, Sam and Veronica all sat on the bed in a straight line. "We made a decision but I'm not sure if anyone will like it" Jordans dad said looking at all of them with a straight face. "We thought that maybe we should adopt a boy. So that you two will have a brother" Jordans mom said looking at her kids. "Really? Awesome!" Jordan said excited. "That would be fun!" Veronica said. "And we decided that it had to be someone who was a good kid" Jordans dad said still with a straight face. "I'm happy for you both" Sam said. "Well, we were hoping that you were that boy, Sam?" Jordans mom said putting a smile on her face. "WHAT?" Sam said jumping in the air. "YES! Sam, come on, say yes. PLEASE?" Jordan pleaded. "Yeah Sam, Say yes!" Veronica said. "YES! I will. I'll do everything you ask. I'll be that kid you wanted to adopt" Sam said almost crying. Jordan jumped up and gave Sam a hug saying. "The dream we had was true, Brother!". Everyone laughed. "What do you think, Charlie? Would you want to move in with Jordans family?" Sam said. Hopping up and down, Charlie jumped onto Quinton. "I think that's a yes!" Sam said looking at Jordans parents. "Thank you so much!" Sam said give them both a hug. They were all very happy to have some new members in their family.
They got on the plane and headed home. Sam was really excited and so was Jordan. "You're going to love our house!" Jordan said. "I know I will. This has got to be the best day ever!" Sam said looking out the window. The whole plane ride home, Sam felt comfortable. 'The best day ever is right here' Sam thought to himself . 'If anything can get better than this, give it to someone else. I have everything I need to make me happy'. And that was good enough for him.
