A foxes' den within a castle ruins

Dream: The Ship

One night, as the father fox lay sleeping, he dreamt that he and the rest of his family were on a ship. It was a big ship, known as the Auguila, with Freddy Fox proudly steering the ship through the crashing waves. He admired the dark mahogany wood of the deck, as it gleamed under the fiercely beating Caribbean sun, and breathing in the salty but refreshing wind. Frank Fox was attempting fire the large cannon lining the side of the deck, as Frederica pleaded with him, from a distance, to not touch them. On the other hand, Frank was teasing Frederica, saying that she was too scared of the cannons to come closer. Frieda Fox, their mother, strolled around the long and wide deck, visibly scarred from past adventures. Freddy could smell rich oils and perfumes that had permeated into the wood through time. Suddenly, Frederica's pleading, turned into a gasp, and Freddy whirled to face his two kits. Frank was balancing on the magnificent figurehead of the the Auguila, an eagle that leaned into the waves, as though flying and leading ship to it's destiny. Frieda and Freddy ran towards the prow, and upon getting there, Freddy pulled Frank onto the deck and sternly warned not to do anything dangerous. The Caribbean sun seemed brighter and brighter, until Freddy blinked, opened his eyes, and found himself back in his cosy featherbed.

A small, round, brown and wooden door marks the entrance to Frank and Frederica's room. There are two feather beds in the room and two wooden dressers. The beds are both against mud, twig and bark walls. The beds have a feather quilt and pillow on each. There is one opening in the wall, which serves as a window. It has a blind over it. There is a woolly, sheepskin rug on the floor. Five beeswax candles light up the room. On a table between the beds are three of the beeswax candles. Their smell is sweet. The other two are on the dressers. One small wooden chair is against the wall, opposite the beds.

Freddy and Frieda Fox

A family lives here and they own the den. The husband and wife are Freddy and Frieda. They are friendly, but can be fierce foxes if anyone attacks them. Freddy is the hunter and provides all the food. His wife Frieda prepares all the food. She stays home all the time. They have two children, the eldest is Frank Fox and his younger sister is Frederica Fox. The kits are very friendly and Frank likes to talk a lot. Frieda is a quiet little fox and enjoys games like soccer and colouring. Frank is 7 years old and Frederica is 5. Frank goes hunting with his father sometimes. Frederica stays home and helps to plant the garden, with her mother. The kits don't go to school. Both of the kits like to splash in the stream and their parents don't like it. They are all red foxes. The family often goes out to parties with other animals of their size. The kits play hockey and soccer when they go to parties and the parents speak about their plans for events.

My hut is in Northern Ireland. There is another ruined castle twenty miles away in the south, and there is a forest that surrounds all of the castle except the old gate. The weather in this area is never very hot. It rains a fair bit. Inside my hut it is quiet but outside in and around the forest it can be noisy because of the coyote. It is very hard to find because of the thick forest. The gate is 20 feet from the hut, and the gate is a large gate but around it are low, ruined, collapsed walls that hide the gate somewhat. This hides the hut. The area is not at all deserted because of the many animals that live in and around the forest. Sometimes they come out of the forest to hunt and they are fairly quiet. The environment is peaceful. There is a stream that connects to the original stream and runs around the hut and joins again. This is in our present times.

A small wooden door rounded at the top is the entrance to the home. Immediately when you come in the door there is a grass mat and reeds are spread over the floor. The den is made of mud, twigs and bark. In the den there are 4 rooms: living room, kitchen, sewing room and bedroom. In all of the rooms there are candles in holders on the walls. In the living room there sits two light brown feather couches with a small table between. In the kitchen there are two wooden chairs at a table and a circular opening in the ceiling to let in light. In the kitchen there is an old fireplace that is part of the original ruin of the castle. The kitchen is built against this old stonewall. A stream runs through the middle of this room. There is a fridge in the stream here. Two little feather beds are in the bedroom. At the back is a little blue door rounded at the top.
